Kansas City Chiefs End Their Road to Victory

The weekend of January 15th, 2017 was an exciting time in Kansas City. Not only was winter storm Jupiter headed straight to the heart of the Midwest, but the beloved Kansas City Chiefs were set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in their first playoff game of the season. With passionate fans cheering in the chilly air on Sunday night, the Chiefs faced a hard battle, and disappointingly, lost their chance at 2017 Super Bowl glory.

Anticipation was an all-time high at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday night, as the last time the Chiefs won a home playoff game was 23 years ago, on January 8, 1994. Fans packed the parking lot in the early afternoon hours, celebrating and preparing for the weather delayed kick off later in the night, but even all the excitement wasn’t enough to carry our beloved team to the next round.

With ice glazing the city and hopes held high, the Chiefs began their road to playoff victory with an early touchdown and lead. However, it didn’t take long for the late start and bitter weather conditions to catch up, causing the team to fall behind the Pittsburgh Steelers, and ultimately lose by two points with a final score of 18-16.

This tough loss didn’t come easy, as the Chiefs battled down until the last seconds of the game, where a holding call diminished the home team’s shot at a win. A well-played game, Sunday night’s tragic end meant the last of the Chief’s season until fall.

However, even with a loss, Kansas City Chiefs fans held their heads high as Arrowhead emptied for a final time this winter. Sure, the team may not be advancing, but Kansas City’s passion for their sports community will never waiver. This may be the end of the season for the Chiefs, but Kansas City’s love and support for the team will continue on stronger than ever.

Overland Park Heating and Cooling is a proud supporter of the Kansas City Chiefs, and congratulates them on a great season. See you in the stands this fall!
